Industry Direction

Compact Electronic Systems

Electronic systems continue to evolve toward smaller footprints, higher operating frequencies and greater functional density. Advanced packaging and interconnect technologies are being developed to deliver more functionality and performance within increasingly compact systems.

These changes can place greater demands on insulating components and precision polymer parts. Material selection may need to consider dielectric behavior, dimensional consistency, moisture absorption, thermal conditions and the mechanical requirements of the finished component.

PTFE and other fluoropolymers can support these requirements through a useful combination of electrical insulation, dielectric properties, chemical resistance and temperature stability.

Material Advantages

Why PTFE Works

01

Electrical Insulation

PTFE provides high electrical resistance and dielectric performance for parts that isolate conductive components.

02

Low Dielectric Loss

Its dielectric characteristics make PTFE relevant where reducing signal energy loss is an important material-selection factor.

03

Low Moisture Absorption

Very low moisture absorption helps support insulation performance in humid or moisture-exposed environments.

04

Thermal & Chemical Stability

PTFE can be considered where electronic components encounter heat, oils, chemicals or demanding industrial surroundings.

Precision Components

Precision Electronic Components

As electronic systems become more compact and connector densities increase, insulating components may require smaller geometries, controlled features and repeatable dimensions.

Golden Collar manufactures custom PTFE components from customer drawings using CNC turning, milling, drilling, boring, grooving and threading. Component design and tolerances should be reviewed against the selected material and application conditions.

Component Isolation

Electrical Insulation Components

Fluoropolymer parts can provide electrical isolation while also supporting resistance to moisture, chemicals and temperature variation. The appropriate form depends on component geometry, assembly load and the operating environment.

Potential part forms include machined insulators, spacers, bushings, rings, washers and other custom dielectric components, together with PTFE film or sheet where those material forms suit the application.

Fluid & Coolant Handling

Thermal Management Tubing

Liquid-cooling and coolant-handling systems can require tubing and components that maintain chemical compatibility, electrical insulation and stable performance under the intended temperature and pressure conditions.

PTFE, PFA and FEP are potential material options for tubing and fluid-contact components. Final selection should consider fluid chemistry, bend requirements, permeability, connection design, pressure, temperature and applicable project specifications.

Material Selection

Fluoropolymer Materials

Electrical properties alone do not determine the right material. Mechanical load, wear, dimensional requirements, processing method, geometry and operating conditions should also be reviewed.

Virgin PTFE

A broad-purpose option for electrical insulation, dielectric applications and chemically exposed components.

Filled PTFE

Considered when an application requires changes to wear behavior, creep resistance or dimensional stability.

PFA

A melt-processable fluoropolymer used in demanding insulation and fluid-handling contexts.

FEP

A melt-processable option for flexible tubing, film and electrical insulation contexts.

Manufacturing Support

Fluoropolymer Manufacturing

Golden Collar works with virgin, filled and modified PTFE together with other fluoropolymer material forms. Custom components can be produced from customer drawings through machining processes appropriate to the geometry.

Project support can include drawing review, material-selection discussion, prototype or sample production, dimensional inspection and repeat production. The final manufacturing route depends on part size, tolerances, quantity and material behavior.
